This is a winning organization, so just having that culture, that feeling, it was definitely different. Im a guy thats gonna do my job. Im going to play hard. Im going to prepare the right way and whatever the coach needs me to do, Im going to do it to the best of my ability. Thats the deal, folks. More talent added to the mix. There isnt a magic formula here and the Eagles understand that. They made a trade sending off one good player and receiving one back. Bennett has a lot to catch up on in a short period time, so that is all that matters now. Hes likely to play against Cleveland on Saturday after two days of work against the Browns in joint practices. We will get a good sense of what hes all about then and what impact he could have at cornerback, a position the Eagles are challenging in a big way midway through Training Camp, 2025.

Jakorian Bennett participated in practice for the first time since the Eagles traded for him last week. Bennetts first action in team drills came when he rotated in at right cornerback with the second-team defense. Thats notable since Ringo and Jackson have mostly repped at RCB this offseason. Bennett later took third-team RCB reps. He wasnt really noticeable, except for when he gave up a tightly contested slant reception to Taylor Morin for a successful two-point conversion try.

Jahan Dotson spent the offseason building chemistry with Jalen Hurts and its showing in Eagles camp - Inquirer
[Hurts] doesnt want drop-off, Dotson said. Going back to last year, we played Tampa Bay, and [Smith] and [Brown] were out, we didnt have that connection. It was two weeks, three weeks. When those opportunities come, whether those two, someones not practicing or someones not playing, they feel like theres no drop-off, so that hes comfortable with me. This year, Dotson had a full offseason to train with the Eagles and learn the playbook before heading out onto the field. Dotson is in a contract year, after the Eagles declined his $16.8 million player option. To further develop his game, he trained with Hurts in Houston for several weeks this summer. Hurts is extremely hands-on about how he wants the receivers to run routes and where he wants them to be on the field, Dotson said. After a different quarterback and training camp in Washington, Dotson said the lack of lead time kept him a step behind in learning the playbook and the details Hurts needed to see in the receivers game. Those weekly throwing sessions in Houston with Hurts helped Dotson talk through the playbook and build the chemistry that was missing last season.

Kyle McCord was the hot-shot rookie from Syracuse who led college football in passing last year, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson was the Browns castoff with the worst touchdown-interception ratio in the NFL in the last 50 years. The competition for the Eagles 3rd-string quarterback spot hasnt gone quite the way you might have expected a month ago. McCord, the rookie 5th-round pick, has struggled much of training camp and had a tough NFL debut in the preseason opener vs. the Bengals. But DTR, after a difficult first few days of practice, has looked sharp and is clearly in the lead for the No. 3 spot behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee. Its a natural progression, Thompson-Robinson said of his improvement over the past week and a half. Obviously, coming in at OTAs and everything, you are kind of at the bottom of the depth chart and you have to work your way through getting some reps here and there.

Darius Cooper had a great game. If cuts were today, he would be part of the 53-man roster. Cooper was 6-82-1. The numbers are good, but how he got them is so much more important. Cooper had terrific releases on multiple plays. Hes got quick feet and has a feel for how to create separation. He ran good routes. Cooper has strong, sure hands. He plucks the ball naturally. He looked like a veteran receiver, not a UDFA from a tiny school.

Schottys debut: Its hard to get much of a sense of what the teams new head coach will provide from just one preseason game. After all, he only used his seven iron. While we cant be too judgy, it wasnt a great start. He preaches physicality and toughness, and at times, they looked like they were being pushed around. He preaches intelligence, and the units didnt show much discipline. Even his commitment to running the ball seemed like a broken promise after the offense came out throw-happy. Only time will tell what this team will look like under new management, but so far, from what we saw in this game, there isnt much to be excited about.

Rough start for Milton. Joe Milton IIIs one start in New England in 2024 sold the Cowboys on his potential and prompted them to trade for him. His first outing wearing the star might have had the opposite effect. Milton struggled mightily against the Rams Saturday, missing targets, throwing passes into traffic and sailing passes beyond targets downfield. His best moment came as a runner on a read option in the first half, and when given a chance to show off his arm strength, he launched a missile into double coverage, ending in an interception. To his credit, Milton started to settle in more late in the third quarter but it was a far cry from that memorable Week 18 performance he enjoyed last season.
