Raving has become the staple night activity for the Gen Zs.

For the longest time, nightclubs were viewed as the default places for nighttime activities, and now Gen Z has redefined what fun nighttime activities look like.

Afro-house and EDM music have become a popular genre in the party scene, and raves provide a place to enjoy the music, with like-minded people and a more intimate setting.

Raving has been a thing for decades, but in the past 3 years, it has garnered more attention from diverse groups of people in Lagos, with clubs even planning rave parties, inviting Afro-house DJs, and encouraging their guests to participate.

Rave culture is one that emphasizes fun, excitement, and love, which is another major reason Nigerian Gen Z might prefer it to clubbing, where clubbing has become a display of wealth, raving is more about the moment, music and memories made.

Raves are also often themed, and Nigerian Gen Zs enjoy an opportunity to dress up. With raves, they get to explore fashion, nightlife, and a diverse genre of music that isn’t commonly played in the country.
