Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge criticized the BJP and JD(S) for their silence following Prajwal Revanna's conviction in a rape case. Kharge questioned the BJP's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' slogan, accusing them of using other leaders to divert attention from such crimes. After expelled JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was convicted in a rape case, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge on Friday hit out at the BJP and JD(S), accusing them of staying silent on the issue. Calling the act 'disgusting,' Kharge questioned the BJP's silence and asked what happened to their "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" slogan. He stated that the BJP uses leaders like himself and deputy CM DK Shivakumar to distract from such serious crimes. Speaking to the reporters, Kharge said, "Let's talk about this again. Isn't the BJP their coalition partner? Isn't their relative a minister in the central government today? BJP leaders need Priyank and DK Shivakumar to cover up all this. Otherwise, their true colours will be revealed, won't they? Tell me, have they spoken about this even once? Did they say even once that what JD(S) did was wrong? What Prajwal did was wrong...They are making excuses. Do they say what Munirathna did was wrong? All these are rape cases." "So they use us, the CM, the DCM, or Kharge sahab, to cover these up, as they say. The BJP and JD(S) should also answer this. Shame on you; this heinous act was committed. Earlier in the day, a special court for elected representatives convicted Prajwal Revanna, expelled JD(S) leader and former Lok Sabha Hassan MP in the rape case of a domestic help. Prajwal, the grandson of former PM HD Deve Gowda, was found guilty in one of the four rape cases registered against him, and the court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on Saturday. After the verdict against him was pronounced, Prajwal Revanna broke down and was seen weeping. Revanna was convicted in connection with a rape case of a domestic help at a farmhouse in Holenarasipura in Hassan district.
