Kunle Afolayan Wins Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award at ITI Summit

Renowned filmmaker and creative entrepreneur Kunle Afolayan has received the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 2025 International Tourism Investment Summit in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The summit, which ran from July 22 to 24 under the banner #ITSOyoState2025, brought together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore new frontiers in tourism investment across Nigeria. 

The high point of the event was the Governors Dinner and Tourism Awards Night, where Afolayans visionary contribution to the tourism landscape was formally recognized.

Afolayans award is largely attributed to the success of his KAP Film Village & Resort, an ambitious project nestled in Igbojaye, Oyo State. The resort has quickly become a cultural landmark, combining hospitality, film production, and tourism in a unique environment that celebrates African identity.

What sets KAP Film Village apart is its ability to merge storytelling with tradition. The space doesnt just cater to filmmakers, it welcomes tourists, cultural enthusiasts, and creatives looking to engage with a space rooted in Nigerian heritage. 

Its an ecosystem that reflects Afolayans long-standing commitment to promoting African stories on a global stage.

The filmmaker also extended appreciation to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Akinwale Akinwole (Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Service Commission), Tola Akerele (CEO of the National Theatre), and the Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy for their ongoing support and belief in the creative sector.

Through projects like KAP Film Village, Afolayan is not only reshaping the future of tourism in Nigeria but also reinforcing the role of creativity and culture in national development.
