During another incident on Palatine Road in Withington, an officer detained a suspected broken cheekbone and injuries to his tongue after responding to a domestic call out.

Following the incidents, Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle, GMPs local policing lead, said: The officers injured in these incidents are receiving support from our welfare team, and we are ensuring they have everything they need during their recovery.

This is yet another reminder of the risks police officers face daily in their efforts to protect the public.

Assaults on officers are never acceptable. Our officers routinely place themselves in harms way to safeguard others, and they deserve our full support and respect for the work they do.

Responding to domestic incidents is a priority for GMP. These calls are often among the most emotionally charged and potentially dangerous situations our officers attend.

We remain committed to protecting vulnerable victims, offering them the support they need, and ensuring their safety.

Our officers will continue to respond with professionalism and compassion, even in the most challenging circumstances.
