Pixelverse Unveils MemeBattle: New Deck Builder Game Brings Crypto Memes to Life

  • Pixelverse, a crypto gaming project, announced “MemeBattle”, a tactical deck builder game featuring characters inspired by popular cryptocurrency memes, with squads competing in battles for rewards.
  • MemeBattle will feature 10 playable characters, modeled as unique in-game entities rather than cards, and is powered by Coinbase’s Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network.

Crypto gaming project Pixelverse announced the launch of a new tactical deck builder game which consists of turning popular cryptocurrency memes into playable characters.

In MemeBattle, players can build squads using characters modeled after well-known meme coin mascots, including Brett, Toshi, Keyboard Cat, Dog in Me, Mr. Miggles, Mochi and Ski Mask Dog. Players will use these squads to compete in battles, earning rewards through strategic victories.

Moreover, characters from other crypto projects, such as Pudgy Penguins, Turbo and Mew, will make appearances.

The initial release, scheduled for January, will include 10 playable characters, but unlike traditional deck-building games, the characters in MemeBattle won’t be represented as cards but as unique in-game entities.

Pixelverse is leveraging Coinbase’s Base, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, to power its new game in order to deliver a smooth user-experience.

PIXIFI Token Sees 90% Drop Since Launch

Pixelverse was launched in February 2024, garnering a lot of popularity in the gaming community. Its token, PIXFI, launched on the Open Network (TON), a layer-1 that’s become a hub for tap-to-earn (T2E) projects.

The PIXFI token has a market capitalisation of US$5.05M (AU$8.10M) and a trading volume of over US$15.6M (AU$24M), currently trading at US$0.003393 (AU$0.0054), a 7.1% decrease over the last 24 hours.

In general, the token hasn’t performed really well since its launch. It has actually lost around 90% of its value.

Despite the token’s lack of action, Pixelverse as a whole has gained significant traction. The launch of MemeBattle builds on the earlier success of PixelTap, a Telegram mini-game played by millions of users earlier in 2024.

The project has also received funding from Gate.io, which provided US$50M (AU$80.2M) from its Meme Fund.
