Ragnarok Landverse: Blockchain on MMORPG Mechanics
Ragnarok Landverse brings the beloved features of the classic MMORPG Ragnarok Online, launched in 2002, and basically slaps blockchain technology onto it.

It remains faithful to the original, starting with the leveling system with base levels capped at 99 and job class levels at 50. To help newcomers navigate the game, non-player characters (NPCs) like Shion and the Receptionist provide guidance on game mechanics and controls.
Moreover, Ragnarok Landverse integrates play-to-earn (P2E) mechanics with traditional gameplay elements, appealing to both fans of the original game and those new to the franchise. The reason for using blockchain tech is to give users ownership of assets and enhance engagement. For instance, in-game items are represented as NFTs, allowing players to trade and own unique assets through a dedicated marketplace.
Moreover, the game runs on three currencies: ADAM (adamantine Blessings) are used to pay for upgrades and advancements within the game. ION facilitates in-game purchases, while Zeny remains a traditional currency carried over from the classical game.

The blockchain-based version was developed by Maxion in partnership with Ragnarok Online publisher Gravity, the game is part of a broader effort by Zentry, Maxion’s parent company, to build a “metagame ecosystem” of interconnected Web3 games.
As part of this initiative, Zentry—formerly known as GuildFi—will maintain a validator node on Ronin.
Pre-registration for Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis is now open. Players can connect their Ronin wallets to claim potential rewards ahead of the game’s launch. Additionally, another blockchain game in the Ragnarok universe, developed by DeLabs Games, is set to launch on Telegram in early 2025.
